Here are a few tips on caring for your hair.

What is Virgin Hair?

Before getting into the care of maintenance the hair, lets first take a look at what it is exactly.  Virgin hair is hair that has not been colored or chemically processed.  Simply put, hair that has not been altered from its natural state.  Hair textures range from silky straight to deep curly.

Washing and Conditioning

Virgin Indian Hair is human hair, and should be cared for in the same manner as you would your own.  We recommend you cleanse your hair at least once a week. Curly textures require frequent attention to look its best, so we suggest you opt for the co-wash method of cleansing your hair. Co-washing simply means washing your hair with conditioner. This is vital in keeping your tresses healthy, which enables longer use.  We recommend a co-wash once a week with moisturizing conditioner to ensure your hair gets the nutrients and moisture it needs. If you prefer to shampoo, beware of frequent shampooing as it can strip the hair of a significant amount of moisture. Avoid ingredients that can strip your extensions of moisture (parabens, sulfate, alcohol and silicone).  Products containing these ingredients strips the hair of moisture and vital nutrients.  Also beware of using hot water, which tends to overexpose the cuticle  and damage the hair.  Opt for warm water during the wash/co-wash process and make sure you are using quality products

Detangling

To prevent excessive tangling and frizzing, we recommend the use of a de-tangling brush. Start detangling your hair from the bottom, and work your way up. Make sure your hair is properly secured (pinned, plait, or bendy rollers) before bedtime, and sleep with a satin cap (yaaay bonnet!!!) or satin pillowcase.

Drying / Heat Styling

USE HEAT IN MODERATION.  Did you hear that? Letting the hair air dry is strongly recommended for maximum use. If blow drying is a must, utilize the lowest heat setting to prevent premature dry out. Before flat ironing, use a quality heat protectant serum to protect your strands.  Avoid heavy oils to prevent your hair becoming too weighed down.

Now that you have made this investment, use these tips to make sure you get the most significant return on your hair investment…longevity!
